About The Position

Greencells is hiring an experienced, safety-driven HV Senior Authorised Person to lead high-voltage operations, G99 compliance testing, and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) interfaces at its UK solar PV sites. The role covers 11/33 kV networks and 132 kV where applicable, with responsibility for safe energisation and grid connection in compliance with applicable requirements.

The postholder will act as the SAP on UK sites; prepare and approve switching programmes; issue and cancel safety documents; plan, lead, and document G99 compliance testing through EON, ION, and FON stages; and serve as the DNO point of contact for connection and operational matters. The role also includes commissioning HV switchgear and protection systems, investigating faults and plant trips, authorising and coaching APs and CPs, and supporting project teams and clients on HV safety.

Requirements

• Current SAP authorisation at a minimum of 33 kV on private or renewable networks.
• Proven experience issuing PTW and SFT and writing switching programmes.
• Hands-on experience with G99 compliance testing on solar PV or BESS sites, including DNO witnessing.
• Working knowledge of EaWR 1989, ESQCR 2002, G99, and G5/5.
• Ability to independently run energisations and G99 testing and maintain accurate records under programme pressure.
• Confident communication with DNOs, clients, and project teams.
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
• Responsible, proactive, and solution-oriented approach, with the ability to apply professional expertise effectively in day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities

• Act as HV Senior Authorised Person on Greencells UK solar PV sites operating at 11/33 kV and, where applicable, 132 kV.
• Write and approve switching programmes and issue and cancel safety documents, including Permit to Work (PTW), Sanction for Test (SFT), and Limitation of Access (LOA).
• Plan, lead, and document G99 compliance testing, including reactive power, voltage control, frequency response, and power quality, from EON through ION and FON.
• Serve as the single point of contact for the DNO on connection and operational matters, outage bookings, witness tests, and G99 evidence packs.
• Commission HV switchgear, protection, and interface protection.
• Lead fault finding and plant-trip investigations.
• Coach and authorise Authorised Persons (APs) and Competent Persons (CPs).
• Support project teams and clients on HV safety.
