About The Position

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is seeking a highly organized, personable Office Specialist to join our Salt Lake Conservation Outreach team. This dual-purpose role is the administrative backbone of our Hunter Education program. Approximately 75% of your time will be dedicated to supporting the Hunter Education program: managing schedules and coordinating essential office duties. The remaining 25% is issued to provide vital administrative support to our communications and wildlife recreation programs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Drivers License
  • DNR required training (defensive driving. security), awareness etc.)
  • Must successfully pass a background check
  • Demonstrated experience in office practices and procedures
  • Ability to conduct research using various methods and sources
  • A professional telephone manner and excellent listening skills
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to wildlife conservation outreach

Nice To Haves

  • Hunter Education Instructor Certificate
  • Bowhunter Education and Furbearer Education
  • Certification: National Archery in the Schools Basic Archery Instructor Certification (NASP BAI Certificate)
  • Experience hunting, fishing, shooting or trapping

Responsibilities

  • Manage information across written and electronic formats, including data entry, transcription, and record-keeping.
  • Handle scheduling duties for the Hunter Education program and distribute supplies or materials as needed.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to establish and administer databases; compile, audit, and verify information for accuracy.
  • Supervise occasional seasonal employees or interns and collaborate effectively with volunteers.
  • Review and edit documents for grammar, spelling, and punctuation to ensure professional standards are met.
  • Operate standard office equipment and maintain organized physical and digital filing systems.
