Department: College of Arts & Sciences Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Summary: The Humanities Truck Student Project Assistant supports mobile, community-based public humanities programming and research. Project Assistants assist with planning and facilitating events that bring humanities scholarship into conversation with local communities. They will also support sub-grant projects. This role provides hands-on experience in public humanities practice, event facilitation, and community-engaged scholarship.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student at American University.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Interest in public humanities, public history, museums, or community engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and assist with transporting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and delivery of Humanities Truck events.
  • Assist with event set-up, breakdown, and engaging with participants.
  • Assist with research related to current projects.
