About The Position

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Human Services Program Supervisor in the Program Operations. This position is primarily responsible for management and oversight of the fee-for-service (FFS) and Expansion service authorization (SA), to include all aspects of the SA contract, operations and DMAS SA staff within the SA unit. This position will assure timely deliverables are met by the current contractor. The business needs for this position have in office requirements to include but are not limited to attending in-person meetings and training. Located in beautiful Central Virginia, the Richmond area puts you just 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Beach and Washington DC. Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge/experience of clinical health care standards of treatment, social service systems and/or operations.
  • Considerable knowledge/experience in analysis of health care documentation to determine medical necessity, and appropriateness of service as it relates to diagnoses.
  • Considerable knowledge/experience in best practices for utilization management and/or service authorization (pre-authorization) processes for medical and/or behavioral health services.
  • Considerable knowledge/experience in leading a business team to bring up new services/implementation.
  • Knowledge/Experience of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. (MS products).
  • Knowledge/Experience interpretation and application of federal, state laws/regulations.
  • Experience in meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience in contract management.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
  • Knowledge of community (gap) services not funded by Medicaid
