About The Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate countywide response to homelessness and housing insecurity in Beaufort County in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health or related field.
  • Four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, engages, and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners, including service providers, government agencies, businesses, libraries, and other organizations that serve or interact with individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
  • Coordinates with partner agencies to connect individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity with available housing, supportive services, and community resources.
  • Supports the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count by assisting with planning, partner coordination, volunteer and site logistics, resource event coordination, data quality assurance, and post-count follow-up activities.
  • Implements data collection methodologies and conducts gap analyses to identify unmet housing and service needs, underserved populations, and emerging community trends.
  • Provides information and referrals regarding available housing, supportive services, and community resources to individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
  • Researches best practices in homelessness prevention and intervention and develops recommendations aligned with local and regional resources.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), including outreach contacts, Coordinated Entry activities, referral tracking, and data quality assurance.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports performance metrics using Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data, Point-in-Time (PIT) Count results, referrals, outreach activities, and housing needs assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and identify community trends.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
