About The Position

This position performs supervisory and administrative duties for the Administrative Division. It ensures compliance with NC Public Health Law and Program Guidelines by carrying out responsibilities and supervision of fiscal and budgetary operations, purchasing, clerical and computer operations, physical building operations, and provides administrative assistance in the absence of the Health Director for the department. The role involves assessing program input and objectives with division directors/program managers to ensure effective and efficient measures are taken in obtaining fiscal goals. All information received and provided to employees outside of standard business practice is shared with the Health Director. The position also acts as a liaison with other county agencies collaboratively with the Health Director.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • General knowledge of personnel, purchasing, and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and direct fiscal and business services.
  • Ability to select, train, and supervise employees engaged in business operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other state officials, and the general public.
  • Master’s degree in public health administration, public health discipline, or public administration and two years of management experience in a health-related agency.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a public health administration or public health field and four years of management experience in public health.
