About The Position

This is a position at Marion Correctional Institution located in Marion, North Carolina (McDowell County). Marion Correctional Institution is a Close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 793 offenders. Position provides relevant human resources customer service to employees and general public to provide information in response to HR questions. Process, verify and maintain standard HR documents such as pre-employment materials, change of status forms; prepares and maintains relevant HR documentation, forms and records; gathers information for review and analysis by others related to HR transactions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.

  • Demonstrated or documented experience interpreting, applying, and communicating a variety of policies, procedures, and regulation

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end collection, processing, and submission of FMLA and ADA documentation.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment and facilitate employee retirement processing and offboarding.
  • Maintain compliant, accurate, and up-to-date physical and digital personnel files.
  • Generate and audit weekly and monthly metrics to ensure data accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Investigate and resolve employee inquiries regarding compensation, deductions, and payroll discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and execute quarterly job fairs and community hiring events to support recruiting efforts.
  • Initiate and package diverse LOA requests (FMLA, Extended Illness, Paid Parental Leave [PPL], Family Illness Leave [FIL], and Military Leave) by securing federal compliance documents (e.g., WH380-E, WH380-F).
