Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience preferably in production/manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience processing large, multi company payrolls.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) required.
  • Experience working in various HR & payroll systems, preferably UKG.
  • Solid understanding of Ontario employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Demonstrated experience leading employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with managers and employees at all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference checks, and offer preparation.
  • Partner with hiring managers to create, review, and update job descriptions to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with business needs.
  • Conducts new hire orientation, ensuring clear communication of company policies, the Employee Handbook, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Continuously improve onboarding processes to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, attendance management, discipline, and policy interpretation.
  • Coordinate all performance management related administration, ensuring timeliness, consistency, and effectiveness.
  • Lead employee relations matters from intake through resolution, ensuring fairness, consistency, and legal compliance.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, prepare findings, and provide clear, well-documented recommendations.
  • Support accommodation, disability management, and return-to-work processes in collaboration with managers, employees, and medical professionals.
  • Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with legislative and internal requirements.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Administer benefit and retirement programs, including enrollments, changes, and employee support.
  • Serve as the HRIS subject matter expert, maintaining data integrity and optimizing system usage across HR, payroll, and benefits platforms.
  • Create, review, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs that support engagement, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR, payroll, and safety processes to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and solution-focused employee experience, transforming challenging situations into constructive outcomes.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, training compliance, WSIB claims, and payroll accuracy.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish monthly HR newsletters and employee communications, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Manage and update digital screens and internal communication tools across all office locations to promote awareness, engagement, and connection.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support creative monthly employee engagement initiatives that enhance morale, participation, and organizational culture.
  • Partner with management and internal stakeholders to support culture‑building initiatives and company-wide internal events.
  • Support the development and delivery of employee wellness initiatives that promote employee well-being, inclusion, and work-life balance.
  • Participate in cross-functional HR initiatives and projects as assigned.
  • Stay current on changes in employment legislation and HR best practices, translating updates into organizational action.
  • Prepare reports and insights for leadership, identifying trends and recommending improvement initiatives.
