This position is based at Stennis Space Center, MS, with the ability to travel between company worksites, including Michoud Assembly Facility, as needed (estimated 20%). We’re looking for an early HR professional who is service-minded, organized, and enjoys keeping HR operations running smoothly across two locations: NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi and NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a hands-on role focused on onboarding, employee support, personnel transactions, records management, orientation, reporting, and day-to-day HR coordination. This role offers the opportunity to make an impact and help build something great. The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $60,000 based on experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of HR experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in onboarding, records management, talent acquisition, benefits, or HR operations.
  • Working knowledge of basic HR practices and employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and EEO principles.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups, facilitating orientations, and creating professional communications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, drug testing, and maintain required site access/clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required to obtain and maintain site access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, system implementations, or process improvements.
  • Graphic design or visual communication skills (PowerPoint, flyers, training materials, etc.).
  • HR certification (aPHR, SHRM-CP, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Process personnel transactions accurately and timely.
  • Manage onboarding activities, including new hire paperwork and E-Verify.
  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation.
  • Maintain employee files, records, and data accuracy.
  • Support benefits administration and respond to routine employee questions.
  • Provide guidance on basic HR policies, procedures, leave administration, and workplace practices.
  • Support recruiting activities, including job postings, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
  • Prepare HR reports, presentations, and employee communications as needed.
  • Partner with employees and managers to support day-to-day HR operations across both locations.
  • Travel between locations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
