About The Position

The HR Business Partner enhances organizational and individual excellence by working with leaders within the assigned business units and classified and/or unclassified positions to assist with the proper alignment of people, processes, structure, and culture. This position provides HR leadership in Talent Acquisition, Classification/Compensation/Benefits, Employee and Labor Relations, and three assigned specialty areas in Human Resources. This role is responsible for effectively communicating college strategies and objectives and implementing change initiatives designed to support RCTC. This position exists to research and compile classification information to respond to equity proposals for salary ranges for classes under review in the collective bargaining negotiations. Has access to documents/data containing labor relations information as defined by M.S.13.37. Support to the Human Resources office as an employee and labor relations representative for one or more departments at Rochester Community and Technical College and thus will be confidential as it relates to M.S. 13.17.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Communication or related field AND at least two (2) years of HR experience OR a combination of education and experience.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information, communication, and service to diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, rules, and collective bargaining agreements to advise employees and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to prioritize work, initiate actions to meet deadlines, and complete all aspects of assignments under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, document, train and improve business procedures required for recurring work tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely sensitive, difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop productive working relationships with campus colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Human Resources experience in higher education or within a public/government agency.
  • Experience with labor relations functions with multiple bargaining units.
