About The Position

As a Human Resources Representative in the Human Resources Bureau within the Office of the Director, this role analyzes a myriad of personnel transactions to verify compliance with the Personnel Code, Personnel Rules, Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Merit Compensation Plan, and collective bargaining agreements. The position prepares and processes CMS-2's, answers inquiries from management staff and divisions liaisons regarding Personnel Rules, Pay Plan and required documentation for various employee personnel actions. This role also processes all “turn around” documents processed by CMS and routes them to payroll prior to the affected payroll closing (general increases, step increases, promotions, etc.). Using an established database, the representative monitors for all semi-automatic promotions due. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Requirements

  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • One (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
  • Successfully pass a background check.
  • Successfully pass an ISP drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in Human Resources or similar position working with personnel codes, pay plans or bargaining agreements.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in Human Resources or similar position working with payroll.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience processing transactions or position classifications in a Human Resources department.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience answering inquiries from employees and management regarding various Human Resource rules and procedures.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience responding to employment verifications to include writing and emailing responses regarding personnel correspondence inquiries.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience handling high volumes of information, to include entering information and maintaining databases and verify by a systematic method the reliability of held information.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with computer systems, software, templates, and other guides used in Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a human resources generalist.
  • Performs difficult personnel functions preparing and processing personnel transactions.
  • Serves as a Human Resources subject matter expert.
  • Prior to payroll closing, or as needed, monitor MOBIUS to print any CMS turn-around documents.
  • Track and process all semi-automatic promotions.
  • Respond to employment verifications from other state agencies seeking to employ current Illinois State Police Employees.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
