About The Position

Norway Savings Bank is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join their team. The Human Resources Manager (HRM) is responsible for managing day-to-day human resources operations including payroll, benefits administration, compliance; as well as talent acquisition, DEI initiatives/promotion, employee experience and employee relations. The HRM will ensure the department provides exceptional customer service to the organization and will lead /coach the HR team. The HRM will be a resource to supervisors/managers and provide human resources coaching on various issues including conflict resolution, employee performance and behavior challenges, performance improvement plans, corrective action and documentation. In this position you will also be the point of contact for employee concerns, investigating as necessary, coordinating with legal counsel, and ensuring resolution. The HRM is expected to be well-versed and remain current in employment law. HRM will maintain confidentiality of company and employee information. This position is based out of Norway, ME.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required with post high school education, certification and/or college degree preferred.
  • At least five years of related, progressive human resources experience.
  • At least five years leading and coaching a team of human resource professionals.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP required
  • Knowledge: Federal and State laws and practices pertaining to employment/labor, standard human resource practices and procedures
  • Human Resources Management principles
  • Wage and Hour laws and regulations
  • EEO laws and regulations
  • Willingness to travel amongst branches.
  • Self-motivated, independent-thinker, flexible, assertive, supportive.
  • Proven time management, prioritization, critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication, and organization skills.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office products and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day HR operations ensuring efficient and quality customer service and support.
  • Provides guidance and support for benefit administration including leave of absence, accommodations and safety/workers compensation matters.
  • Provides guidance and support for wellness initiatives and the wellness operating plan.
  • Oversees recruiting and onboarding across the organization – includes development of a recruiting plan, marketing/social media, as well as providing hiring best practices and tools to the organization.
  • Leads, coaches and motivates the HR Team.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
  • Manages employee disciplinary meetings, investigations and terminations including all documentation, tracking and coordination with legal counsel.
  • Provides updates to SVP, Senior Human Resources Officer of all activities.
  • Educates Supervisors/Managers across the organization with regards to Employment Law, employee relations and recruiting/interviewing/hiring/retention.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations; minimizes/mitigates risk.
  • Keeps the organization informed and abreast of new/upcoming compliance.
  • Promotes high achievement and support culture of the bank throughout the employee life cycle.
  • Assists the organization with retention strategies.
  • Works with the HR Team to develop/maintain an exit interview process, track results, identify trends and propose/implement solutions.
  • Responsible for Onboarding, any New Hire check ins and/or stay interviews.
  • Develops and/or maintains HR metrics and provides recommendations based on findings.
  • Develops and maintains fluency with HRIS (payroll, reporting, applicant tracking and onboarding)
  • Also develops and maintains fluency with ancillary programs for benefits and performance management.
  • Works with managers to create, review and update job descriptions and pay levels.
  • In conjunction with SVP, Senior Human Resources Officer, develops team business plan in support of organizational goals.
  • Lead and participate in DEI initiatives
