We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager who understands the pace, standards, and creative culture of the design/staging industry and can lead both HR operations and talent acquisition, while leveraging modern tools including AI to enhance efficiency and decision-making. The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of HR, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, and full-cycle recruiting. This role is critical in shaping our team, maintaining our high-performance culture, and ensuring seamless HR operations across departments including design, staging, warehouse, and corporate teams. The ideal candidate has prior experience in interior design, architecture, staging, or a related creative industry, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of HR experience, including full-cycle recruiting
  • Experience in interior design, architecture, staging, real estate, or a creative industry strongly preferred
  • Experience using or implementing AI tools in HR or recruiting workflows
  • Strong knowledge of New York labor laws and HR best practices
  • Proven ability to manage both strategic HR initiatives and day-to-day operations
  • Experience hiring for creative, operational, and field-based roles
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR partner to leadership and department heads
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management
  • Develop and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with federal, New York State, and NYC employment laws
  • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Manage benefits administration, leave policies (FMLA, NY PFL), and payroll coordination
  • Maintain HRIS systems and employee records with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Lead performance review cycles and support leadership development
  • Own full-cycle recruiting across all departments (design, staging, warehouse, admin, leadership)
  • Partner with leadership to identify hiring needs and workforce planning strategies
  • Develop creative sourcing strategies, particularly for design and creative roles
  • Screen, interview, and evaluate candidates for both skill and cultural fit
  • Build pipelines of top talent within the interior design and staging industry
  • Manage offer process, compensation benchmarking, and candidate experience
  • Strengthen employer branding to attract high-caliber candidates
  • Help foster a high-performance, collaborative, and design-driven culture
  • Implement employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies
  • Support training and development programs across departments
  • Coach managers on leadership, communication, and team development
