About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist supports a broad range of HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, HR operations, workplace safety, benefits and leave administration, talent acquisition, and employee engagement. This position partners with employees, managers, and leadership to support effective HR programs, maintain accurate records, and ensure consistent application of company policies and applicable employment laws. Based on business needs, individual interest, and qualifications, the incumbent may specialize in one or more functional areas while maintaining generalist support across the Human Resources department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of Human Resources experience, with demonstrated experience in at least one of the following functional areas: talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee relations, HR compliance, leave administration, workplace safety, employee relations or employee engagement.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices, employment laws, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills to support Human Resources and operational business needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands.
  • Dependable, punctual, adaptable, and able to follow direction and exercise sound judgment.
  • Must be able to comprehend, analyze, organize and prioritize a wide variety of information within time limitations.
  • Requires the ability to read and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Requires concentration, alertness and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform under stressful conditions while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the hotel or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
  • Supports the implementation and adherence to Company Rules, policies, standards and practices.
  • Tracks required certifications and compliance programs, including liquor cards, First Aid/CPR, Hepatitis B vaccination, and respirator program requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects access to sensitive information, including company data, and employee records by following all protocols and preventing unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Answer telephones as needed, direct calls, and take messages; greet all applicants and employees and assist with employee questions, disseminate or explain information.
  • Responds to employee HR-related inquiries in a timely manner, escalating complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and other reference materials to optimize HR operations.
  • Continually improve HR workflows, processes, and efficiencies to enhance employee experience.
  • Provides administrative support to the Human Resources department that includes a range of administrative duties requiring confidentiality and discretion.
  • Supports health and safety initiatives, including Safety Committee activities, training, and related compliance requirements.
  • Assists with the administration of workers’ compensation reporting and monitoring employee return to work status. Assist with claims coordination and participates and periodic claim reviews.
  • Responds to employee benefit questions and refers employees to appropriate resources, vendors, or account managers as needed.
  • Monitors benefit eligibility, communicates eligibility changes, supports enrollments and coverage updates, and coordinates with insurance providers and COBRA administrators.
  • Maintains HC-5 waiver forms for employees who decline insurance coverage.
  • Coordinates 401(k) enrollment sessions, serves as liaison with the account manager, and processes open enrollment contribution changes.
  • Assists with the administration of leaves of absence and accommodation requests in coordination with employees, managers, insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and applicable agencies.
  • Reviews and tracks eligibility for protected leave programs, including FMLA, TDI, Workers’ Compensation, HFLL, and Pregnancy Disability Leave.
  • Provides required notices and guides employees through leave requirements, documentation, and return-to-work procedures.
  • Maintains regular communication with employees regarding leave eligibility, documentation, status, and return-to-work plans.
  • Partners with hiring managers to develop and update job descriptions and provide responsive support for departmental staffing needs.
  • Coordinates all job postings, reviews resumes and applications to assess qualifications and conducts initial interviews in accordance with hiring procedures.
  • Coordinates interviews and prepares interview guides, evaluation tools, and related recruitment materials.
  • Facilitates the offer and onboarding process including drug screening, reference checks, background checks, credential verification, and compliance requirements.
  • Processes new hires and ensures required employment documents are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Represents the hotels at community, industry, and school recruitment events to promote opportunities and strengthen the employment brand.
  • Processes separations and offboarding, including company property collection, HRIS updates, and personnel file maintenance.
  • Supports efforts to foster a positive workplace culture by promoting employee participation, recognition, and engagement opportunities.
  • Assists with planning and coordinating employee engagement, recognition, community, and company-sponsored events.
  • Assists with event logistics, communications, and administrative coordination to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management to support operational needs.
