About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting HR operations with primary ownership and hands-on administration of onboarding, HRIS record administration, compliance auditing, and leave of absence processing. This role is expected to develop subject matter expertise in core HR operational functions while gaining exposure to strategic HR Leadership responsibilities. The HR Generalist partners closely with assigned operating divisions and is expected to remain informed about organizational changes, staffing movement, workforce trends, and upcoming business needs within their supported divisions. This role reports to the HR Manager and collaborates closely with two peer HR Generalists, providing cross-coverage and operational backup support as needed. In addition to operational HR responsibilities, this role will participate in rotational HR Leadership activities, including employee relations investigations, leader coaching, and consultative support for front-line leadership. This role is intended to provide progressive exposure to broader HR functions and strategic partnership responsibilities. Successful candidates will have opportunities to deepen expertise in HR operations while developing consultative capabilities over time.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E Driver's License or resident state equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with an HRIS system such as UKG or Workday is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting onboarding, leave administration, HR records management, or compliance auditing preferred.
  • Previous exposure to employee relations through supervisory responsibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute employee onboarding activities, ensuring a positive and compliant new hire experience.
  • Maintain and administer employee records within the HRIS system with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Process employee status changes, transfers, promotions, compensation updates, and separations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine and ad hoc audits of HR records, personnel files, and system data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
  • Support leave of absence administration, including intake, tracking, documentation management, employee communication, and coordination with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve routine HR process discrepancies, escalating complex or high-risk issues as appropriate.
  • Interpret and apply established HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements in day-to-day employee support and HR administration.
  • Assist with HR reporting, documentation preparation, and data validation activities.
  • Support employee relations investigations.
  • Assist leaders with performance and conduct consultations.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders regarding standard HR processes, practices, and documentation requirements.
  • Escalate complex employee issues appropriately.
  • Utilize discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential employee matters.
  • Maintain awareness of workforce changes, staffing plans, organizational movement, and business initiatives within assigned operating divisions.
  • Build effective working relationships with leaders and employees to support business and operational needs.
  • Serve as backup support for peer HR Generalists during absences, workload balancing, or operational surges.
  • Recommend and support implementation of process improvements and workflow efficiencies to enhance HR service delivery and compliance outcomes.
  • Assist in documenting HR procedures, workflows, and best practices.
  • Support implementation and adoption of HR technologies and process enhancements.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused HR team environment.
