About The Position

The Bruce Company is a local, family-run landscaping company with 70 years of experience, seeking a Human Resources Generalist. This role involves a wide range of HR functions including payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and supporting departmental development. The position will also assist the Human Resources Manager with benefit administration, employee relations, organizational development, HRIS, and policy administration. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3 years HR Experience
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is necessary.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with payroll processing
  • Ability to independently research and acquire related knowledge and/or problem solve.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Able to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and Company information.
  • Excellent customer service and diplomacy skills required.
  • Must be self-guided and able to manage time and priorities.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, talks, and listens for extended periods.
  • Squats, stoops, or kneels; occasionally lifts objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to reach above shoulder level.
  • Requires vision and fine motor skills for computer use.

Nice To Haves

  • preferred experience in ADP
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English), written and verbal communication skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages workflow for payroll process including ensuring all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Handles day to day questions and concerns from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists and participates in employee investigations and disciplinary meetings as needed.
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes data and recommends improvements.
  • Responsible for day to day benefits administration, including new hires, changes, terminations, and open enrollment.
  • Responsible for leave administration including FMLA, STD, and LTD.
  • Assists HR Team with recruiting, interviews, and selecting employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Assists with New Hire Orientation and Paperwork.
  • Complete Unemployment Paperwork, employment verifications.
  • Develop and update job descriptions.
  • Update and maintain confidential personnel files and HRIS System (ADP).
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager.
