About The Position

As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in shaping the employee experience across our Montreal portfolio by supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and talent development. As a trusted partner to both managers and employees, you will help foster a positive, engaged workplace while ensuring HR practices and programs are delivered effectively and consistently.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a Human Resources environment, experience in a unionized environment a strong asset
  • Experience and exposure to full-cycle recruitment
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or College diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Ability to build effective working relationships within the team as well as with internal and external clients
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality, discretion and tact is essential
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Knowledge of HRIS and Recruitment software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of French and English, written and spoken

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment activities for the Montreal portfolio from beginning to end; drafting job descriptions, screening applications, conducting interviews and background checks, present offers, and maintaining recruitment records and metrics
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on employee relations matters; providing advice and guidance; assisting managers and employees with employee relations issues and concerns in areas such as performance management, employment termination, labour relations and compensation/benefits
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation of new employees, assuring a smooth integration in alignment with hiring managers
  • Provide guidance around labour relations with unionized employees, advising within the collective agreement.
  • Coach and train managers on the performance development process, including development planning and handling performance issues.
  • Partner with client group leaders to develop employee engagement strategies and action planning.
  • Interpret policies, guidelines, and best practices for people leaders to enable decision-making.
  • Act as the contact person for employees to resolve employee inquiries such as general HR administrative matters, questions about pay, vacation, employment confirmation letters, benefits, corporate policies, etc.
  • Maintain employee files and records
  • Support the ongoing Francization program efforts
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the payroll department to ensure all payroll-related issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in or lead special projects, as required
  • Provide occasional support to the Health & Safety manager with injury reporting and Health & Safety initiatives
  • Other tasks as required
