About The Position

AMSOIL is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist. This role provides tactical and strategic consulting on talent development with managers to increase engagement and improve employee performance. The Generalist partners with managers on employee relations, including conducting investigations, building development plans, and coaching. They ensure AMSOIL's compliance with HR policies and procedures, align business objectives with employees and management, and develop partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added services. A key aspect of this role is possessing and maintaining an effective understanding of the business unit's culture and goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ direct experience in human resource work required.
  • BS/BA degree required; with human resources emphasis preferred.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, performance management, employment laws and workers compensation.
  • Proven ability to effectively coach employees and management through complex and difficult issues.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws affecting all areas of human resources and high level of interest and ability to remain current in field and research areas of concern as needed.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other employees, and members of the public.
  • Use a collaborative and consultative, relationship-building approach to engage and influence business partners at all levels.
  • Experience in developing creative ideas for recruiting and sourcing candidates for a variety of roles at different levels.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in fast-paced work environment & successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency and customer service demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of HR systems and processes of recently acquired business.
  • Partner with union on safety, working conditions and grievance resolutions.
  • Coach and counsel managers and employees on employee performance issues, communications, interpersonal skills development and assist in the resolution of work-related problems to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Partner with manager to conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Work with managers on annual employee performance appraisal and merit increase processes to ensure accurate, consistent and defensible reviews and raises.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and managers to support the talent acquisition and onboarding processes.
  • Develop and administer both general and department-specific training to aid in employee development.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees to identify any systemic issues in departments and/or the company; then work to develop a plan and activities to address those issues.
  • Respond to all employee inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure AMSOIL is compliant with local, state, and federal employment regulations and HR best practices.
  • Partner with Human Resources Director, Legal, IT, and Safety to deliver appropriate content and updated acknowledgements. Partner with managers and employees to ensure completion of all requirements.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Director, Legal and outside resources to ensure accuracy with the Employee Handbook and any supporting documents.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching to leadership on a variety of actions to include employee relations issues, policy interpretation and application, talent management and development and organizational design.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Director, Legal, Safety, and Finance to support workers compensation compliance.
  • Coordinate and support projects according to the HR strategic plan.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within AMSOIL.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Provide input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
