About The Position

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day administration of key HR functions, with a primary focus on benefits administration, HRIS administration (ADP Workforce Now), and talent acquisition. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers and plays a critical role in ensuring the effective delivery of HR services. This position is responsible for administering employee benefits programs, maintaining accurate employee data and records within ADP Workforce Now, coordinating recruitment and onboarding activities, and supporting a variety of HR programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-oriented, customer-focused HR professional with strong organizational skills, and who is excited about the opportunity to learn multi-faceted HR functions within a growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in benefits administration, HRIS administration, and recruiting.
  • Hands-on experience administering employee benefits programs.
  • Experience maintaining employee data within an HRIS platform.
  • Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding activities.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, association, or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting payroll administration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator for employee health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending accounts, COBRA, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations within ADP Workforce Now and carrier systems.
  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries and assist employees in understanding available programs and coverage options.
  • Coordinate annual Open Enrollment activities, including employee communications, enrollment setup, educational materials, presentations, and vendor coordination.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with benefit carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations governing employee benefit programs.
  • Maintain employee records and data integrity within ADP Workforce Now.
  • Process personnel transactions, including new hires, promotions, compensation changes, transfers, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Generate standard and ad hoc HR reports and workforce analytics.
  • Assist with HRIS configuration, testing, process improvements, and system updates.
  • Provide employee and manager support related to ADP self-service functions.
  • Support payroll processing activities and serve as backup for payroll administration as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance of employee records and HR data.
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities for assigned positions.
  • Draft and post job advertisements on various recruiting platforms.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial candidate interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, and hiring logistics.
  • Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Prepare offer letters and facilitate pre-employment activities.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation activities to ensure a positive new hire experience.
  • Manage offboarding activities, including exit interviews and separation documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining HR policies, procedures, employee communications, and HR documentation.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal tracking and annual review administration within ADP.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, surveys, recognition programs, and employee events.
  • Support training and professional development initiatives.
  • Respond to routine employee relations inquiries and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain HR files and records in accordance with legal requirements and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate and manage bi-weekly HR communications, including the HR Bulletin Board, to ensure employees are informed about benefits, wellness programs, policy updates, learning and development opportunities, employee events, and other important organizational initiatives.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with ACA reporting, audits, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Support administration of leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and disability programs.
