About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist – Senior supports the company through various HR programs and systems to meet company goals, legislative and Employee Charter requirements. The Human Resources Generalist – Senior works closely with their assigned departments to manage the day-to-day human resources activities to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist experience supporting multiple areas of human resources, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge working with Workday and Dayforce considered an asset
  • Advanced excel and data management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible to work varied hours to meet internal/external customer requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle for assigned business groups, including hiring, leaves, internal transfers, layoffs, and exit procedures (terminations, resignations, retirements). Collaborate closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Partner with leaders to attract and select top talent, following established recruitment protocols.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure timely and effective hiring decisions.
  • Support onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new hires are integrated successfully into the organization.
  • Support in the performance review process, including tracking timelines, distributing tools, and supporting managers with feedback and development planning.
  • Assist in identifying performance gaps and recommending appropriate interventions or training.
  • Support in updating HR policies and procedures in accordance with employment legislation and organizational changes.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across departments and provide training or clarification as needed.
  • Support audits and reporting related to compliance, health & safety, and employment standards.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives, maintain training matrices, and audit training compliance to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Assist in annual Labour and Employment Audit (LEA).
  • Support leadership development initiatives and succession planning efforts.
  • Assist in identifying skill gaps and recommending learning solutions.
  • Conduct compensation analysis for new roles to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness; provide recommendations to support hiring decisions.
  • Support in annual Pay Equity review and Wage and Benefit Survey.
  • Generate HR reports and metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data integrity in all HR documentation and systems.
  • Address employee concerns and conduct thorough workplace investigations.
  • Work proactively with leaders to resolve conflicts and foster a positive work environment.
  • Assist in the administration of disciplinary processes by preparing documentation, scheduling meetings, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment law.
  • Partner with HR leadership and managers to ensure fair and consistent handling of corrective actions.
  • Provide expert guidance and coaching to leaders and team members on progressive discipline, performance management, and the interpretation and application of company policies, the Employee Handbook, and relevant legislation.
  • Coordinate employee terminations including documentation, exit interviews, and system offboarding.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal protocols during involuntary and voluntary separations.
  • Support managers in conducting respectful and professional termination meetings.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and process standardization to enhance team and organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with payroll to complete all employment-related administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Review, interpret, and recommend updates to HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and relevance.
  • Engage in workplace committees (e.g., fairness) to support a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Plan and coordinate employee engagement activities to foster a positive workplace culture and enhance team morale.
