About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist, under general supervision, provides routine and some complex human resources support. Creates, posts, and processes actions in the HRIS System or related systems. Assists supervisors and employees with HR-related questions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Psychology or related field.
  • One (1) year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, posts, and processes actions in the HRIS System or related systems.
  • Primary duties include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • May coordinate routine and some complex human resource functions.
  • Coordinates and maintains personnel records and ensures the accuracy of employment files and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assists with auditing personnel files.
  • Directs employees to human resources and/or payroll resources.
  • Investigates human resources and/or payroll errors and recommends appropriate corrective action.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes human resources and/or payroll documents for approval.
  • Audits human resources and/or payroll documents as necessary.
  • Assists supervisors and employees with HR-related questions.
  • Effectively communicates HR and payroll programs, practices, and policies to employees.
  • Assists international services, faculty affairs, student employment, graduate professional school, research, and tax on questions and requests.
  • Serves as a liaison in employment matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and university rules, regulations, and standard administrative procedures that govern employment.
  • Prepares routine and some complex human resources and/or payroll reports.
  • Coordinates the collection and dissemination of survey results.
  • May coordinate, plan, and provide logistical support for events and programs.
  • May assist and/or serve as a resource for other departments, colleges, and/or divisions on human resources and/or payroll functions.
  • May cross train on specialized human resource functions in an assigned area, such as benefits, classification and compensation, employee relations, immigration, leave, onboarding, payroll, performance evaluation/management, organization development, recognition/rewards, recruitment, and workers’ compensation.
  • Collaborates with main Human Resources on updates to processes, services, and programs.
  • Attends human resources trainings and/or informational meetings.
