Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, human resources, institutional research, or a related analytical role.
  • Experience working with large datasets and producing reports for business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience with data extraction and validation.
  • Knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Cognos.
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods and data visualization best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in data analysis, statistics, research methods, business intelligence, human resources, or information management is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or public-sector environment is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (PeopleSoft, Workday, or similar systems) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and validate employee data within HR systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Conduct routine data audits and assist with data remediation activities to support compliance with established data standards.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, working with HR stakeholders to improve data quality and reporting outcomes.
  • Support system updates, testing activities, data conversions, and configuration changes to ensure ongoing data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain regular HR reports, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Analyze workforce trends including headcount, turnover, recruitment, retention, diversity, absence management, and compensation.
  • Generate ad hoc reports to support HR leadership, faculties, and departments.
  • Identify patterns and trends and present findings in a clear and meaningful manner.
  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and business needs.
  • Assist in the development of automated reporting solutions and dashboard enhancements.
  • Document reporting processes and create data definitions and reference materials.
  • Participate in projects involving HR systems, data migration, and business process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and improve data collection methods.
  • Support initiatives that increase reporting automation and self-service access to HR data.
  • Participate in HR systems and analytics projects as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of HR reporting and analytics practices.
