About The Position

OpTalent is partnering with a well-established and growing construction organization in the Greater Toronto Area to recruit a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working closely with business leaders while remaining hands-on in all aspects of Human Resources. The successful candidate will support both operational and strategic HR initiatives, helping drive employee engagement, talent acquisition, performance management, and organizational growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation.
  • Experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting full-cycle recruitment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • CHRP designation (or working toward designation) is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience supporting construction, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or skilled trades environments.
  • Experience supporting a multi-site workforce.
  • Exposure to unionized environments is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Experience working closely with operational leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers and leaders to provide strategic and day-to-day HR guidance.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to understand business needs and workforce challenges.
  • Support organizational growth, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.
  • Provide practical HR solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for corporate, technical, and operational positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate selection, offers, and onboarding.
  • Support employer branding and recruitment process improvements.
  • Act as the primary resource for employee relations matters.
  • Coach managers on employee performance, attendance, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct workplace investigations as required.
  • Assist with disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Support annual performance review processes.
  • Coach leaders on employee development and performance conversations.
  • Assist with succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
  • Identify training and development opportunities across the business.
  • Support compensation reviews and salary recommendations.
  • Assist with workforce planning initiatives.
  • Participate in policy development and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with Health & Safety programs and HR compliance activities.
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support HRIS administration and process improvements.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee information.
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics for leadership.
