About The Position

This role involves establishing strong partnerships at the regional and management levels to develop and consistently execute business unit and cross-functional strategies aligned with the company's vision and objectives. This close collaboration with regional senior management and functional managers ensures the smooth launch and integration of HR initiatives that support and reinforce organizational goals. The role also requires identifying and implementing new and innovative concepts.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in similar human resources roles.
  • Must be bilingual in English and French, as this position supports sites in Eastern Ontario.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Google and/or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and HR systems (preference for MyWorkday).
  • Experience in complex, multi-stakeholder, and unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with current human rights and labor standards to resolve issues independently, while knowing when to seek advice for complex cases.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting professional documents such as policies, procedures, union memos, business analyses, and corporate communications.
  • Travel required to different sites (30%).

Responsibilities

  • Offer innovative yet consistent support for assigned scope, practices, and procedures.
  • Actively identify and participate in the implementation of new organizational programs, processes, and ideas.
  • Play a leading role in the development of emerging HR strategies and programs.
  • Identify areas for HR innovation and propose rigorous implementation plans.
  • Adopt a strategic HR approach, taking responsibility and managing projects to operationalize project and change management initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional HR teams to develop and evaluate data-driven programs and reports, providing financial recommendations related to staffing, deployment, turnover, absenteeism, compensation, promotions, and employee productivity.
  • Seek and obtain internal and external information and advice as needed.
  • Participate in employee group engagement initiatives focused on communication, planning, and problem-solving to ensure excellent working relationships.
  • Actively collaborate with stakeholders during merger and acquisition activities.
  • Design and lead change management and project initiatives at the regional or organizational level, using HR metrics to guide strategy, inform decision-making, and measure impact.
  • Resolve labor relations and employee relations issues by conducting thorough and objective investigations. Participate in labor relations files, play a key role in grievance and arbitration meetings, and actively participate in the negotiation or renegotiation of the collective agreement. Provide support to the Director of Labor Relations/HR for the preparation of union proposals before negotiations.
  • Manage stakeholders and collaborate with functional managers across the organization to provide advice on policy interpretation, performance management, coaching, and supporting managers and employees.
  • Contribute to the implementation of identified national HR projects.
