About The Position

Through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, we are seeking a motivated candidate to join our Human Resources Department as a Human Resources Assistant. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience across multiple functional areas of HR while contributing to meaningful initiatives that support our employees and promote an inclusive workplace. The HR Assistant will work collaboratively with the entire HR team and gain exposure to a variety of activities, including assisting with recruitment and selection processes, supporting the Joint Job Evaluation process, and helping with basic HR data collection and analysis. They will also help plan, organize, and deliver training sessions on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Mental Health and Wellness, Health and Safety, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, while learning how to apply AODA principles to communication and training formats. This role will provide the candidate with transferable skills in HR technology, data analysis, communication, and program delivery—skills that are valuable in any workplace. At Durham Children’s Aid Society, the candidate will experience how we remove barriers within the workplace and support all our employees. Requirements

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment (international students are not eligible participants)
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
  • Candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background check before an offer of employment may be made

Responsibilities
