About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and functional support for Human Resources operations, payroll-related activities, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, attendance tracking, scheduling, and plant-related HR processes. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, accuracy, and organization while supporting employees, leaders, and HR team members in a positive and service-focused manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Must successfully complete required testing, including Wonscore, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and any other applicable skills assessments.
  • Resume and interview are required as part of the selection process.
  • Must meet minimum testing requirements to be considered a successful bidder.
  • Must not have an immediate family member working at Mt. Vernon as defined by company relationship guidelines, including spouse, parent/stepparent, child/stepchild, sibling/stepsibling, grandparent/step-grandparent, or in-law relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Professional, positive, and constructive communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other standard office systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, leaders, HR team members, and external partners.
  • Strong work habits, including neatness, reliability, detail consciousness, and follow-through.
  • High energy, flexibility, and ability to handle stress, change, and multiple responsibilities.
  • Willingness to maintain HR knowledge through coursework, training, or continued learning.
  • Must be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities in support of co-workers and business needs.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime and/or varied shifts as needed.
  • Must conduct all work in a professional, positive, and confidential manner.
  • Must perform any and all other duties as assigned by the HR Team Leader.
  • Schreiber requires that an employee have authorization to work in the country in which the role is based. In the event, an applicant does not have current work authorization, Schreiber will determine, in its sole discretion, whether to sponsor an individual for work authorization. However, based on immigration requirements, not all roles are suitable for sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personnel records, employee files, reports, and required documentation, including I-9 records, training records, certifications, drug screen documentation, and other HR records.
  • Support recruiting and hiring processes, including job postings, applicant coordination, testing, interview scheduling, onboarding, orientation, and related documentation.
  • Create and maintain partner schedules.
  • Respond to external phone inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain Affirmative Action logs and assist with compliance-related recordkeeping.
  • Administer and support job bidding and Career Opportunity processes.
  • Support benefits administration, including eligibility, enrollment, claims support, plan coverage questions, 401(k), STD, LTD, and other benefit-related inquiries.
  • Assist employees with HR, payroll, benefits, enrollment, attendance, scheduling, and general employment-related questions.
  • Maintain data in KRONOS, Workday, and other HR or payroll database systems.
  • Track absenteeism records and communicate annual absenteeism rates to appropriate leaders on a regular basis.
  • Track and schedule vacation, and related time-off records.
  • Prepare confidential documents, memos, correspondence, reports, schedules, and other administrative materials as requested.
  • Support payroll-related activities, invoice processing, data entry, and discrepancy resolution by working with Home Office, Finance, Payroll, Leadership, and other partners.
  • Order and issue appropriate uniform apparel to employees and leaders.
  • Assist with plant activities, community involvement events, training, presentations, scheduling, and other HR-related projects.
  • Provide backup support for HR team members and assist with additional administrative or HR functional needs as assigned.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, payroll, benefits, medical, and other sensitive information at all times.
