About The Position

Gulfport Energy Corporation is an Oklahoma City-based independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company. The Human Resources Assistant supports and facilitates core human resources processes and provides administrative, recruiting, employee-service, recordkeeping, file-maintenance, and HRIS support for the Human Resources department. This role helps ensure HR activities are completed accurately, professionally, and timely; maintains confidential personnel information; supports new hire, onboarding, payroll, and employee-related processes as needed; and contributes to efficient departmental operations through coordination, communication, reporting, and continuous improvement.

  • Proven experience as an HR Assistant or in a relevant human resources or administrative position.
  • Basic knowledge of human resources processes, employment documentation, recruiting support, onboarding, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee, candidate, and business information with sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Minimum of one year of human resources experience.
  • One to three years of human resources or administrative experience; progressively increasing responsibilities in an HR support role within a fast-paced corporate environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Additional education in Human Resource Management is a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting HR-related processes or working within a Human Resources function is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in the oil and gas, energy, private equity, or investment management sectors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day HR operations, functions, and duties, including general administrative support for the department.
  • Maintain personnel-related data and records in paper files, electronic files, databases, and HR systems; ensure information is accurate, organized, accessible, and maintained in accordance with employment and compliance requirements.
  • Respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries and requests; provide timely assistance, customer service, and appropriate routing of calls, correspondence, mail, and emails to HR team members.
  • Prepare, refine, copy, scan, mail, email, file, and electronically organize HR documents, reports, communications, presentations, and other business materials in support of HR initiatives and departmental objectives.
  • Support departmental operations by tracking, reporting, and maintaining key HR metrics, requisition data, business information, and other records used to support decision-making and operational follow-up.
  • Coordinate and manage logistics for HR meetings, interviews, onboarding activities, including scheduling, conference room coordination, materials preparation, and execution support.
  • Support HR administrative processes such as travel coordination, expense reconciliation, mail and document handling, electronic filing, and related workflows as needed for HR operations.
  • Serve as a liaison and coordination point with internal departments such as Compliance, Treasury, Accounting, and other business functions in support of HR-related administrative and expense-management workflows.
  • Execute general office and clerical functions to support operational continuity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness within HR administrative processes.
  • Complete Form I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files and related employment documentation.
  • Submit and assist with new-employee background checks.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires; schedule and conduct new employee orientations and provide support to new hires during the onboarding and training period.
  • Contribute to HR-related administrative activities, including support for payroll and other employee-related processes, as needed, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Assist with the recruiting process from requisition support through candidate disposition and position closeout.
  • Work with hiring managers to review and refine job descriptions, including assistance identifying job duties, qualifications, and position requirements.
  • Post job descriptions on internal and external career websites, newspapers, or other applicable media.
  • Evaluate and screen resumes and cover letters to help determine applicants’ qualifications and eligibility.
  • Conduct phone screens, virtual interviews, and/or in-person interviews as appropriate.
  • Provide hiring managers with shortlists of qualified candidates and assist managers in developing interview questions.
  • Coordinate candidate interviews and complete reference checks.
  • Maintain relationships with outside recruiting agencies.
  • Coordinate and participate in career fairs, university recruiting programs, and other talent acquisition events, as needed, to attract qualified candidates, develop talent pipelines, and enhance the organization's employer brand.
  • Maintain up-to-date requisition status in Workday and other HRIS/ATS tools to ensure positions are closed correctly, candidates are dispositioned, applicants are notified of application status, and monthly reports and statistics are completed as needed.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned by management to support evolving HR, business, and departmental priorities.
