About The Position

Fluor Canada is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and business-partner minded Human Resources Advisor to join our Human Resources team in Vancouver to support management and employees in an HR Generalist capacity. You’ll partner with leaders to drive a thriving, diverse, high‑performance culture. You'll influence decisions, be a trusted advisor, and ensure our talent strategy enables the success of the teams you support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Human Resources, Business Administration or Management, or related field.
  • At least eight (8) years of related experience as a Human Resources Generalist.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills - written and verbal
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask and high attention to detail
  • An ability to quickly learn systems, processes, and procedures and assimilate technical information.
  • A business partner client mind-set with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with a diverse client group including senior leadership.
  • A natural ability to manage competing demands between different deliverables as an HR Advisor showcasing adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently, with self-driven initiative, organizational skills and within tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in industry would be an asset (energy & chemicals, construction, supply chain, mining, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR) would be an asset
  • Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) certification, or applicable HR accreditation
  • Problem solving, communication, judgment, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide analysis, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Data‑driven mindset with the ability to interpret people analytics and translate insights into action.
  • Collaborative, relationship‑focused approach to partnering with the team and across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to be discreet with confidential company and employee information
  • Ability to build trusting relationships, gain credibility, and partner with leaders and peers
  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines

  • Display an understanding of the company’s organizational structure, corporate culture, and business objectives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, and spreadsheets. SuccessFactors would be an asset
  • Broad knowledge of internal database applications for designated discipline

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers that support initiatives such as the engagement and performance management of employees.
  • Support the business with ad-hoc, on-demand data analysis & reporting for recommendations to elevate the employee experience.
  • Provide advice, guidance, interpretation of HR policies, programs, and employment legislation
  • Coordinate actions, strategy, and conversations around the employee life cycle (leaves of absences, modified work schedules, assignment/mobility, and departures).
  • Partner closely with leaders to align business and talent strategies to meet organizational goals and support workforce planning.
  • Conduct workplace employee relations investigations from start to completion, managing with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Support office leadership with respect to Compensation administration.
  • Work collaboratively with the Canada HR team, corporate centres of excellence (COE’s) and other HR groups within Fluor to deliver effective HR support to the business.
  • Lead special projects to deliver the strategic people needs of the business.
  • Support office leadership through the annual talent cycle.
  • Provide facilitation support to the functions when required.
  • Other duties as assigned, including portfolio assignments.
