About The Position

The Human Resources Administrator supports the daily operations of the Human Resources Office and assists in administering core HR functions across the employee lifecycle-from recruitment through onboarding and ongoing employment. This position serves as a primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and visitors, ensuring efficient HR processes, responsive service, and a welcoming office environment. The role supports compliance with federal and state regulations while advancing the University's mission and values.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of professional or administrative experience in human resources or a related field required
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws and HR practices (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience in higher education (preferred)
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems; ADP Workforce Now experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Office, greeting visitors, including faculty, staff, students, and applicants, in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answers and screens incoming calls, responds to general inquiries, and manages the HR department email inbox, ensuring timely and accurate communication or routing of requests to appropriate staff.
  • Supports recruitment activities by posting job openings, coordinating candidate communications, scheduling interviews, and assisting hiring managers throughout the hiring process.
  • Facilitates pre-employment processes such as background checks and onboarding, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition for new employees, including student workers.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronic and physical, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Assists with data entry and maintenance in the HRIS, supports reporting needs, and ensures proper documentation of employment actions.
  • Serves as a resource for employee and student worker inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provides administrative support in employee relations matters, including performance management processes and documentation, escalating complex issues to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Assists with benefits administration, including supporting open enrollment, responding to employee questions, and coordinating with benefits vendors.
  • Supports leave administration processes such as FMLA and Workers' Compensation by tracking documentation and ensuring timely communication.
  • Supports compliance efforts by maintaining personnel files, assisting with audit preparation, and ensuring adherence to federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII.
  • Helps distribute and track policy acknowledgments and assists with updating HR procedures as needed.
  • Assists in coordinating training sessions and professional development programs for faculty, staff, and student employees.
  • Provides general administrative support to the HR Office, including managing correspondence, preparing reports, and assisting with special projects.
