About The Position

Otterbein SeniorLife is an industry leader in health and human services serving approximately 2,000 people throughout Ohio. We are seeking an experienced, forward thinking Human Resources Manager. This role reports to the Executive Director and is a key member of the leadership team. You and your team will work closely with the Home Office to insure excellence in all the Human Resource services in support of the achievement of Otterbein’s mission of enhancing the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons. Our need is for a systems-oriented thinker who can proactively develop and implement processes to ensure the recruitment, retention and development of all levels of employees while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • 1-3 years of experience supervising others.
  • Exceptional written communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a staff.
  • Experience in managing federal, state and local Human Resources laws and regulations.
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient with the use of technology, such as Microsoft Office and ATS/HRIS systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare or manufacturing operations with large, hourly workforce
  • SPHR or PHR credentials a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements programs to maintain an effective employee relations environment with a special focus on the recruitment and retention of a large hourly workforce.
  • Administers and continually improves key human resources systems such as recruitment, retention, performance management, safety and recognition.
  • Analyzes workforce trends and develops plans to position the organization strongly in the marketplace.
  • Develops, maintains, and insures compliance to all community policies, procedures, and practices related to Human Resources issues.
  • Ensures HR files are organized and complete for State Department of Health Surveys
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, and ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters such as FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.
  • Coaches management in carrying out their human resource management responsibilities, including employee selection, performance reviews, promotion, counseling, coaching, discipline, and termination.
  • Recommends, directs, evaluates, and participates in staff development and training programs.
  • Builds strong relationships with local schools and other resources that can provide candidates for open positions.
  • Represents the organization professionally in the community.
