About The Position

Talis Group's client is a well-established, 100% employee-owned construction company with a strong reputation, long tenured employees and continued growth. They are seeking an organized and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join their Louisville team. Reporting to the HR Manager, this position will provide day-to-day HR support to both office and field employees and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in Human Resources. The ideal candidate will enjoy a fast-paced environment, have excellent attention to detail, and take pride in providing responsive, professional service to employees on all levels. Spanish-speaking/bilingual candidates are a plus! This is a full-time, direct hire offering a salary range of $50-$58k , plus full benefits, 401k with employer match, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, onsite.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting a construction, manufacturing, or multi-location workforce is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to analyze applicant qualifications, including skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new HR systems quickly; experience with VISTA is a plus.
  • Spanish-speaking/bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting activities, interview scheduling, and new employee onboarding.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and maintain accurate personnel files.
  • Process employee status changes, terminations, and other HR documentation.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and general benefits questions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee information within the HRIS.
  • Provide support to payroll by maintaining employee data and helping resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate background checks, drug screens, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Assist with I-9 and E-Verify processes.
  • Help ensure HR practices remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Assist with employee training, recognition programs, and other HR initiatives.
  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Perform additional HR and administrative duties as needed.
