About The Position

The Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System (SERS) is seeking to fill our agency's Time Advisor position. In this position, you'll gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of human resource functions. The successful candidate will have a sharp eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to seamlessly shift between tasks, all while delivering excellent customer service and dependable office support. This position provides program support to the SERS Human Resources Office while also serving as the agency Time Advisor. Key responsibilities include all time and attendance administration, coordination of the supplementary employment and employee performance review (EPR) programs, and maintenance of official personnel files (OPFs). This position also serves as a first point of contact for internal and external customers by greeting and assisting visitors, answering the main HR telephone line and email resource account, and responding to a wide variety of requests for information regarding HR processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate processing of time, attendance, schedule change, and other transactions; research and resolve issues; and generate and monitor reports
  • Help supervisors and managers ensure accurate and timely completion of EPRs and onboard new employees; oversee supplementary employment requests and tracking; and assist other HR program coordinators as needed
  • Prepare, upload, and certify a variety of electronic records to OPFs; follow all records retention procedures and policies
  • Provide policy, procedure, and technical advice to managers, supervisors, and employees
  • Greet customers, answer and direct telephone calls and email inquiries as appropriate, handle incoming mail, and help keep office equipment maintained and supplies stocked
