About The Position

The Human Resource Service Center (HRSC) supports Commonwealth employees needing medical leave or welcoming new family members. The team guides employees through the FMLA process by reviewing eligibility, checking paperwork, and ensuring they receive approved time off. The HRSC FMLA Services team is composed of dedicated staff who support employees during challenging moments. This position is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and compassionate, offering a fast-paced role where one can make a meaningful difference and build valuable skills.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Human Resource Management Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 2 or an Equal Opportunity Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of paraprofessional analytical experience and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FMLA Workbench and SAP.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation (WC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), State Employee Assistance Program (SEAP), or Labor Relations (LR).

Responsibilities

  • Review eligibility, process requests, and manage actions in the FMLA Workbench and SAP.
  • Provide direction and information to employees, supervisors, and HR staff about FMLA and leave donations.
  • Track case details, monitor due dates, and maintain confidential medical information.
  • Work with HR partners on cases that overlap with Workers’ Compensation (WC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), State Employee Assistance Program (SEAP), or Labor Relations (LR).
  • Respond to payroll questions related to payments and absence reporting.
  • Ensure benefits and actions follow established directives, regulations, and the Affordable Care Act.
