This position is for an experienced technician for the COMNAVAIRPAC Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT). The experienced technician will perform assessments, troubleshooting, and repairs on watertight & non-tight closures, Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) systems, and valve overhaul and repair in Norfolk, VA.

Requirements

High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
Experience performing inspection, evaluation, repair, and training of Watertight and airtight accesses.
Experience removing, inspecting, and training sailors concerning armored watertight doors hatches, and scuttles, and installed firefighting systems, including Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF).
Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Must be able to travel up to 25% when not assigned to local tasks.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

Prefer technical/professional certifications.
Basic computer skills.
Current or previous experience in pump repair and blueprint reading.
A current, active DoD Confidential Security Clearance or higher.
At least 6 - 8 years of previous US Navy or US Coast Guard related position experience.
Current or previous experience with classroom instructing.

Responsibilities

Master understanding of production and processes.
Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
Perform assessments, troubleshooting, and repairs on watertight & non-tight closures, AFFF systems, and valve overhaul and repair.
May provide direction and lead others.
May manage one or more multiple jobs.
May train others such as sailors.
Complete comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
May perform quality inspections on finished product.
Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
