About The Position

This position exists to support production of aluminum fishing boats by assembling various sized hulls built to high quality specifications. The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $23.71.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience which includes daily use of basic hand-held power tools.
  • Knowledge of reading prints/shop cards and schedules
  • Operation of hand tools, pneumatic drills and hammers, bucking bars, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crawl and work for several hours in various positions either on a concrete floor or within a boat.
  • Ability to manually move product and materials through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending.
  • Ability to prioritize jobs and communicate necessary information to peers and supervisors.
  • The operator should exhibit patience and practicality while working under pressure.
  • Basic understanding of general safety operating procedures of hand tools, lifting devices and other machines.
  • Read operating manuals, written programs, and written instructions.
  • Follow instructions and effectively execute procedures; inspect and don appropriate PPE.
  • Courage and willingness to stop and question unsafe work.
  • History of steady employment with steady and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, work orders, SWIs and safety data sheets.
  • Inspect and use overhead hoists, hull positioners, pneumatic rivet guns, pneumatic drills, bucking bars and other hand and portable tools.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Position and secure workpieces using overhead hoists, mechanical devices or manual manipulation.
  • Align and clamp workpieces together using hand tools, or position items in fixtures, jigs, or vises in preparation for securing together with screws or rivets.
  • Secure material together using rivets, pneumatic hammers, bucking bars, pop rivets, drills and screws.
  • Check all parts for quality which includes aesthetically pleasing rivet finishes and passing leak tests.
  • Test boats by placing them in a test tank with an overhead hoist and utilizing a pneumatic press to apply pressure.
  • Mark or tag material with proper identifiers.
  • Clean work area and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter, clean machines, sweep aluminum chips and other debris, keep personal effects stored appropriately.
  • Participate in daily morning meetings including stretching activities, assist with incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality improvements.
  • Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait.
  • Assist in training other employees on equipment and department procedures, engage in effective conversations with team members and leaders, escalate and discuss issues or potential issues to leads and supervisors.
