About The Position

Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a full-time HUD - Staff Accountant. This position handles the month end close procedures including recording journal entries, reconciling and maintaining fixed assets, balancing accounts payable and accounts receivables, reconciling bank accounts, preparing reconciliation workpapers, assisting in audits and preparing monthly financial statements over the HUD 811 entities (15).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited school, college, or university.
  • Minimum three years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with government-funded programs preferred.
  • Excel or other advanced spreadsheet experience required.
  • Good skills and demonstrated abilities in computer operations, data entry, operating calculator, organization, analysis, initiative, self-management, attention-to-detail, interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines while maintaining compliance with HUD and other regulatory requirements.
  • Must pass a Level II background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • HUD or affordable housing accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations, PRAC requirements, housing accounting practices, general ledger systems, spreadsheet applications, and standard accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Records all month end journal entries to the general ledger in Cornerstone software.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including cash accounts, tenant accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid accounts, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and inter-company accounts.
  • Records and ensures accuracy of monthly intercompany invoicing.
  • Prepares annual PRAC renewals; including HUD rent increase requests and supporting documentation.
  • Maintains and controls fixed assets for assigned 811 housing entities.
  • Assists in preparation of annual budgets for housing programs and properties.
  • Prepares audit schedules, year-end confirmation letters, and assists external auditors during annual audits.
  • Assists with reviewing payroll allocations related to housing programs and completing year-end reconciliations.
  • Ensures compliance with HUD regulations, grant requirements, and internal accounting controls.
