About The Position

Unity House of Troy is seeking a dedicated HUD Specialist to join their Domestic & Sexual Violence Services Program. The ideal candidate will assist victims of domestic and sexual violence in securing safe, stable housing and navigating HUD and related housing processes with compassion and professionalism. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in their community who are hurting and struggling. They assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. The agency works to achieve social justice in the community and to create a better understanding of those they serve.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid and current NYS driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred
  • Familiarity with HUD, federal, and state housing regulations preferred (training available)

Responsibilities

  • Assist victims of domestic and sexual violence with housing applications, locating and securing apartments.
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
  • Communicate with landlords regarding code enforcement, leases, inspections, and renewals.
  • Conduct inspections and lease reviews in compliance with federal funding requirements.
  • Provide referrals and connections to supportive community services.
  • Ensure compliance with contract and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call system (some nights and weekends required).
  • Contribute to a work culture that values inclusion and belonging.
