About The Position

Under general direction, the Student Services Professional III performs complex Student Services professional work characterized by independent student advisement and guidance in individual and group settings. This position will have oversight of an intentional and accountable residential life programming model which includes social, recreational, spiritual and educational outcomes. The incumbent works directly with and advises the UH student governance council, the Chico State National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter, and the UH residence hall programming board. Additionally, incumbent will provide guidance in collaboration with UH staff in the development, implementation, and administration of policy, procedures, and operating principles which pertain to residential life programming, student governance/advising, and the residence hall programming board. Incumbent will spend substantial portions of time in advisement sessions of considerable duration, will be expected use a high degree of judgment, or persuasiveness, imagination and professional skills to accomplish tasks.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.
  • A valid California Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
  • Successful completion and continued compliance with CSU Defensive Driving Course.
  • Incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of Level 1 data.
  • Incumbent is considered a “General Mandated Reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.
  • This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements of this designation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Behavioral, Social Science, College Student Professional, Higher Education, Counseling, Management, Public Administration, Sociology, or a related discipline.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience in the assigned area.
  • Experience Advising a community or hall council or student group.
