About The Position

You are a Human Resource (HR) Solutions Representative. From your first day as a HR Solutions Representative, you will play an essential role at Media News Group. Our corporate HR Solutions team supports every facet of HR operations (i.e., Benefits, HR Information Systems (HRIS), Payroll) across multiple states utilizing the most cutting edge software in the industry - Workday! This position will primarily support the HR and Payroll functions, Leadership and Team Members within HR Solutions. You will play a key role as a member of this team by working with a high attention to detail to ensure all HR and Payroll operations are running smoothly to support our +5,000 employees and internal customers while gaining knowledge across ALL Workday functionality to include time tracking, HCM, integrations, benefits, payroll, etc. If you are looking to further enhance your Personal/Professional Growth, learn valuable execution and strategic thinking skills, and, above all, work with an incredible team - Media News Group is the place for you! Note: While this is mainly a remote role, one day per week every other week in the office is required

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business, human resources, information systems, computer science or a related field preferred (equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient.)
  • 1-2 years of shared services support experience (e.g., Accounting, Finance, HR, IT, etc.)
  • 1-2 years of experience with advanced excel functions
  • Data entry processing of HR and Payroll operational transactions and data requirements or similar computer system data entry experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment - both independently and in cadence with a team or project task force
  • Previous experience with Workday is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Verify, process and input transactions dealing with confidential employee information.
  • Perform intake of various HR and Payroll tasks and inquiries via telephone, email and case management system, including but not limited to, HRIS Data Entry, Payroll inquiries and discrepancies
  • Effectively respond to routine and semi-routine inquiries from employees, managers and vendors regarding various HR and Payroll services
  • Maintain proactive contact with internal customers to ensure awareness of the status of pending issues until the matter has been resolved
  • Assist with HR and Payroll functions including audit report review, cash exceptions, monitoring of wage assignments and reconciling/balancing payroll
  • Execute and monitor various electronic data transmission files sent to a variety of Benefit and Payroll providers
  • Identify existing or standard reports or develop, test and run reports to support internal customers and team projects
  • Perform testing for system implementations and updates
