This role is for a Human Resource Representative at the Huhtamaki Plant in Waterville, Maine, supporting employees and managers through strong HR practices, fair policies, and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant experience.
  • 5 years of administrative and clerical experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
  • Strong Communications Skills within a Manufacturing Environment
  • Good communication skills, verbal, non-verbal and written
  • Must be organized and able to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize

  • Ability to maintain accuracy while dealing with numerous interruptions
  • Requires lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to employees and managers on a wide range of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, training support, and compliance.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department in administering various human resource programs such as attendance, employee relations, compensation, records retention, benefits, worker’s compensation, short and long-term disability, recruitment, policies and procedures, employee opinion survey, administration, communications, retirement preparation, and company events.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State labor laws.
  • Manage absenteeism.
  • Handle recruitment processes, including developing and placing recruitment ads, working with local schools for training programs, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
  • Schedule and plan new hire orientations.
  • Maintain employee record keeping and filing (seniority, pay, addresses, benefits, etc.).
  • Assist with the administration of various employee health, welfare, EAP, and retirement plans.
  • Maintain the Internal Bidding system for hourly employees.
  • Manage hiring processes for full-time and seasonal positions (job advertisement, orientation, Workday, UKG, benefits, background checks, etc.).
  • Handle headcount reporting.
  • Provide support during negotiations.
  • Gather and report Affirmative Action Plan data.
  • Conduct mass mailings to employees and retirees regarding benefits, etc.
  • Act as a backup for the HR Specialist.
  • Perform administrative HR tasks and other duties as assigned.
