We are seeking an exceptional HR Recruiting & Onboarding Manager to lead and elevate this entire journey. This role is more than recruiting and onboarding—it is end-to-end stewardship of the new employee experience. You will develop and coordinate a seamless, high-impact experience that begins with a compelling job posting and carries through interviews, hiring, orientation, and the critical first three months of vocation. Every touchpoint—every email, every conversation, every first day—will reflect clarity, care, and excellence. You’ll partner with leaders across the church to ensure we’re not just hiring well—but welcoming well, equipping well, and launching people into meaningful ministry with intention. The HR Recruiting & Onboarding Manager position exists to welcome, equip, and steward people into meaningful work and ministry by leading the full lifecycle of recruiting, hiring, and onboarding within the organization. Rooted in a theology of vocation and hospitality, this role ensures that every candidate and new employee experiences clarity, care, and excellence—from first contact through full integration—while maintaining legal compliance, operational rigor, and alignment with the mission and values of the organization.

Requirements

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in recruiting, onboarding, or HR operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing HR systems
  • Experience in a church, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization
  • Experience designing internship or early-career programs
  • Working knowledge of employment compliance, including I-9s, immigration requirements, and contractor classification
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple searches and onboarding processes simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of discretion, confidentiality, and ethical judgment
  • Alignment with the mission, values, and faith commitments of the organization
  • Ability to integrate professionalism, hospitality, and pastoral sensitivity

Responsibilities

  • Lead a thoughtful and energizing onboarding process that builds clarity, confidence, and connection
  • Shape the first 91 days into a purposeful pathway of integration, development, and belonging
  • Equip leaders to engage new hires with consistency, care, and accountability
  • Ensure operational excellence and legal compliance at every step
  • Lead end-to-end recruiting efforts, including posting, screening, interviewing, reference checks, background checks, and hiring coordination for employees, interns, and contractors.
  • Design and manage a consistent, mission-aligned onboarding and orientation experience that integrates new hires culturally, spiritually, and operationally.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion and maintenance of I-9s, immigration documentation, independent contractor records, employee files, and related compliance requirements.
  • Administer recruiting and onboarding workflows within Paycom and other HR systems, ensuring data accuracy, audit readiness, and process efficiency.
  • Manage 90-day evaluations, exit interviews, recognition touchpoints, and transition processes that provide insight, care, and organizational learning.
  • Manage recruiting logistics including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and hiring timelines
  • Conduct or coordinate initial screenings and structured interviews
  • Facilitate reference checks and background checks in accordance with policy
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure role clarity, alignment, and fair selection practices
  • Support workforce pipelines, including intentional internship programs
  • Coordinate orientation sessions, materials, schedules, and presenters
  • Ensure completion of onboarding tasks prior to and during the first 90 days
  • Partner with supervisors to support early engagement and retention
  • Track and administer 90-day evaluations and feedback loops
  • Maintain employee files in compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards
  • Manage I-9 verification, immigration compliance, and independent contractor documentation
  • Support OSHA documentation and compliance tracking
  • Ensure data integrity within Paycom and related systems
  • Support the Recognition Team by coordinating milestones and onboarding-related celebrations
  • Conduct exit interviews and synthesize insights for leadership and HR planning
  • Ensure offboarding processes are completed accurately, pastorally, and professionally
