About The Position

The HR Operations Manager will oversee daily HR operations with a focus on stabilizing, standardizing, and improving processes. This role involves identifying opportunities to reduce manual work and implement automation and system-driven solutions, building and maintaining scalable workflows, SOPs, and documentation. The manager will improve processes and experiences throughout the entire Employee Lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding, and partner cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency and consistency. Key responsibilities include overseeing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance, and supervising and supporting Payroll Specialists. The role also involves overseeing benefits administration, leading and mentoring the Benefits Specialist, and owning billing reconciliation, vendor management, and contract oversight. Continuous improvement of payroll and benefits administration processes, and building strong relationships with Finance, benefits brokers, auditors, and vendor partners are crucial. The manager will lead and develop a team including Payroll Specialists, a Benefits Specialist, and an HR Coordinator, providing coaching, direction, and performance management. Establishing clear expectations, promoting accountability, and fostering a collaborative and service-oriented team culture are essential. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, ACA, ERISA, ADA, FMLA, etc.), supporting audits, maintaining accurate and compliant employee records, and identifying areas of risk are also key functions. The role will leverage HR systems to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and reporting, identify opportunities to reduce reliance on spreadsheets, and partner with internal teams and vendors to improve system functionality and integration. The HR Operations Manager will play an integral role preparing for and participating in core system transitions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR operations experience with deep expertise in payroll and benefits
  • Strong hands-on experience with UKG is required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Proven ability to transform manual processes into automated, system-driven workflows
  • Experience navigating multiple systems, limited integrations, and heavy Excel usage
  • Strong knowledge of compliance (FLSA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, etc.)
  • Experience with audits, reconciliations, and vendor management
  • Track record of building process documentation and operational structure from scratch
  • Experience supporting or preparing for HRIS implementations or transitions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
