HR Manager
About The Position
This role is for one of Weekday's clients. We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to build and lead the entire human resources function for a greenfield DRI and steel plant. This role is critical in supporting the organization from initial setup through project execution to full-scale plant operations. You will be responsible for establishing HR frameworks, driving large-scale workforce planning, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. The position demands a hands-on leader who can operate in a dynamic, project-driven environment while laying a strong foundation for long-term people and organizational success.
Requirements
- Proven experience in setting up HR functions in manufacturing, infrastructure, or greenfield projects
- Strong expertise in recruitment, payroll management, and talent management
- Deep understanding of labor laws, statutory compliance, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience in handling contractor workforce and industrial relations
- Ability to manage large-scale hiring and workforce planning in complex environments
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including government and regulatory bodies
- Hands-on approach with the ability to build systems and processes from the ground up
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving project environments with high ownership
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives with business and operational goals
Responsibilities
- Set up the HR function from scratch, including policies, systems, and organizational structure
- Lead workforce planning and execute large-scale hiring for project and plant operations
- Establish statutory registrations, labor law compliance, licenses, and regulatory approvals
- Liaise with government authorities and manage compliance-related interactions
- Design and implement payroll systems, compensation structures, and HRIS platforms
- Manage contractor workforce, ensuring compliance and effective industrial relations
- Drive performance management systems, employee engagement, and training initiatives
- Support plant commissioning through manpower planning and readiness execution
- Build scalable HR processes to support transition from project phase to operations
- Ensure adherence to labor laws, safety standards, and organizational policies
