About The Position

This role is for one of Weekday's clients. We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to build and lead the entire human resources function for a greenfield DRI and steel plant. This role is critical in supporting the organization from initial setup through project execution to full-scale plant operations. You will be responsible for establishing HR frameworks, driving large-scale workforce planning, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. The position demands a hands-on leader who can operate in a dynamic, project-driven environment while laying a strong foundation for long-term people and organizational success.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in setting up HR functions in manufacturing, infrastructure, or greenfield projects
  • Strong expertise in recruitment, payroll management, and talent management
  • Deep understanding of labor laws, statutory compliance, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in handling contractor workforce and industrial relations
  • Ability to manage large-scale hiring and workforce planning in complex environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including government and regulatory bodies
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to build systems and processes from the ground up
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving project environments with high ownership
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives with business and operational goals

Responsibilities

  • Set up the HR function from scratch, including policies, systems, and organizational structure
  • Lead workforce planning and execute large-scale hiring for project and plant operations
  • Establish statutory registrations, labor law compliance, licenses, and regulatory approvals
  • Liaise with government authorities and manage compliance-related interactions
  • Design and implement payroll systems, compensation structures, and HRIS platforms
  • Manage contractor workforce, ensuring compliance and effective industrial relations
  • Drive performance management systems, employee engagement, and training initiatives
  • Support plant commissioning through manpower planning and readiness execution
  • Build scalable HR processes to support transition from project phase to operations
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws, safety standards, and organizational policies
