About The Position

Provides Human Resources support and guidance in a 24/7 unionized manufacturing environment by coordinating HR programs related to employment, labor relations, payroll and benefits, recruiting, onboarding, orientation, safety, attendance administration, workforce reporting, employee engagement, and communications.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in HR
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and employment practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and follow up appropriately.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in benefits administration, audits, leave management, and recruitment preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting a unionized workforce is preferred, including exposure to collective bargaining agreements, grievance processes, and labor relations documentation.
  • Manufacturing or 24/7 operations experience preferred, with the ability to support employees and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open hourly positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers and supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks, return to work physicals and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Conducts new hire orientation and schedules all required new hire training beyond orientation.
  • Coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and plant culture events in partnership with the event committee.
  • Manage all Leave of Absences (FMLA, STD, ADA, etc) and communicate with employee and managers/supervisors accordingly.
  • Assist with labor relations activities in a unionized environment, including employee questions, contractual processes, documentation, and follow-up with managers, supervisors, and union leadership as appropriate.
  • Administer routine Human Resources programs, including benefits, employee relations documentation, disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations.
  • Administer and track attendance points in accordance with company policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement requirements, including preparing related warnings and documentation.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Manager.
  • Tracks labor headcount, maintains workforce data, identifies staffing trends, and prepares updates for weekly labor meeting review.
  • Reviews company policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains personnel files and training records (electronic and hard copies) and any shared information to ensure accurate output.
  • Assists departments with scheduling overtime, identifies improvement opportunities, and recommends solutions to support staffing needs.
  • Provides day-shift Human Resources support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation, partnering with supervisors and managers to address employee questions, staffing needs, and workplace concerns.
  • Support payroll-related processes by updating yearly schedules, reviewing time and attendance information, assisting with issue resolution, and managing programs such as vacation payouts, shoe reimbursements, and other employee payment-related processes.
  • Updates and maintains the HRIS employee hub to share meeting information, employee recognition, contests, upcoming events, and other important plant communications.
