About The Position

O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT seeks an Entry-Level HR Generalist to join our team at our Torrington Repair Facility. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast. The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations while delivering a consistent, responsive, and high-quality employee experience. This role provides broad-based support across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and HR systems, while also taking on increased ownership of processes and problem-solving. The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and managers, ensuring HR processes are executed effectively, and that issues are addressed with sound judgment and appropriate escalation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of HR experience (not just administrative if possible)
  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions (recruiting, ER, benefits, HRIS)
  • Strong judgment in handling employee questions and routine issues
  • Ability to balance administrative execution with problem-solving
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills with ability to interact across all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Demonstrated discretion with confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (JDE or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and solutions-oriented support
  • Handle routine employee relations matters (questions, basic issue resolution) and escalate more complex situations appropriately
  • Support consistent application of HR policies and practices
  • Coordinate recruiting activities, including interview scheduling, candidate communication, and offer support
  • Own onboarding logistics and execution to ensure a strong, consistent new hire experience
  • Collaborate with the HR Business Partner to ensure a smooth hiring and onboarding process
  • Support benefits administration, employee questions, and enrollment processes
  • Assist with leave administration and tracking
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of employee data within HRIS (JDE)/ASANA
  • Maintain employee records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Conduct regular audits of HR data and files to ensure compliance and completeness
  • Prepare standard reports and support HR metrics tracking
  • Support execution of employee engagement initiatives, training programs, and HR-led activities
  • Assist with internal communications and HR program coordination
  • Contribute to creating a consistent and positive employee experience across the organization
