About The Position

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting key human resources functions with a strong emphasis on leave administration (FMLA), regulatory compliance, and payroll processing. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws while delivering high-quality HR support and accurate, timely payroll services. With 5–8 years of professional HR experience, this role serves as a trusted partner to employees and leaders. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail oriented, and skilled at delivering a positive employee experience while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and policies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with hands-on experience in: FMLA and leave management, HR compliances and payroll processing
  • Experience with multi-state compliance
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour requirements, and multi-state payroll considerations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume, detail-heavy workloads (FMLA tracking, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) – willingness to pursue
  • Knowledge of benefits administration. Assist with benefits administration as needed

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.)
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook
  • Conduct internal audits of HR processes and employee records
  • Assist with investigations, documentation, and resolution of employee relations issues
  • Support compliance reporting (EEO-1, OSHA logs, audits, etc.)
  • Stay current on HR legal updates and proactively recommend changes
  • Administer all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, short-term/long-term disability, and state leave laws
  • Determine eligibility, track leave usage, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related questions
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and maintain confidentiality
  • Partner with managers to support return-to-work processes and accommodations
  • Provide operational support for payroll processing activities, including pre‑ and post‑payroll validation.
  • Partner with Payroll leadership to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution across multiple states.
  • Assist with off‑cycle payrolls, adjustments, reversals, and corrections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with internal controls and retention standards.
  • Support year‑end payroll activities, including W‑2 validation and reconciliation.
  • Contribute to HR projects and process improvements
