About The Position

This role focuses on ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, administering employee leave programs, and supporting payroll operations. The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for maintaining HR policies, conducting audits, assisting with employee relations issues, and supporting compliance reporting. A key aspect of the role involves managing all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other state leave laws, and serving as the primary point of contact for leave-related inquiries. Additionally, the position provides operational support for payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate execution across multiple states, and assisting with year-end payroll activities.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of HR employment laws, regulations and best practices
  • Experience with multi-state compliance
  • Knowledge of benefits administration. Assist with benefits administration as needed
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour requirements, and multi-state payroll considerations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume, detail-heavy workloads (FMLA tracking, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of HR experience, with hands-on experience in: FMLA and leave management, HR compliances and payroll processing
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.)
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook
  • Conduct internal audits of HR processes and employee records
  • Assist with investigations, documentation, and resolution of employee relations issues
  • Support compliance reporting (EEO-1, OSHA logs, audits, etc.)
  • Stay current on HR legal updates and proactively recommend changes
  • Administer all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, short-term/long-term disability, and state leave laws
  • Determine eligibility, track leave usage, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related questions
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and maintain confidentiality
  • Partner with managers to support return-to-work processes and accommodations
  • Provide operational support for payroll processing activities, including pre- and post-payroll validation.
  • Partner with Payroll leadership to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution across multiple states.
  • Assist with off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, reversals, and corrections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with internal controls and retention standards.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 validation and reconciliation.
  • Contribute to HR projects and process improvements
