About The Position

This role is responsible for a wide range of human resources functions, including tracking employee training and development, reviewing background checks and employment eligibility, and investigating and resolving general employee matters. The HR Generalist will perform complex tasks related to HR policies and programs such as compensation, leaves, disciplinary actions, and performance management. They will also collaborate with safety departments on occupational health and drug testing, handle employee inquiries, and assist with leave of absence requests and related forms. Additionally, the role involves maintaining compliance with employment laws, staying updated on HR trends, managing HR information systems, and assisting in the preparation of various HR documents and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3-5 years of human resource experience
  • SHRM-CP

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents employee participation in mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Reviews background checks, drug screens, and employment eligibility verifications, identifying variances and escalating matters as needed.
  • Investigates and resolves general employee matters in collaboration with other HR staff and internal stakeholders.
  • Performs complex tasks to administer and execute human resource policies and programs including compensation, overtime pay, leaves, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, random drug testing, productivity, recognition, and morale.
  • Collaborates with the safety department on drug and alcohol testing requirements and occupational health and safety matters.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters.
  • Works with the Compensation & Benefits Administrator on tracking LOA requests (FMLA / CFRA, PDL, PFL) and assists in completion of state and federal forms.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assists in developing company-wide SOPs.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Monitors and updates all related HR information systems with relevant employee data.
  • Assists with the preparation of plans, policies, documents, and various reports including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, and employee handbooks.
