About The Position

The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for a full-time Human Resources HR Coordinator position in the Office of Human Resources. This position reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Human Resource Manager. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities outlined in this position description, as well as the employee's attitude and general work behavior. Job Type: FT (Benefits Eligible) Job Purpose: The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for the Human Resources department by coordinating, recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, compliance activities, and employee relations initiatives. This position serves as a key point of contact for employees and applicants, ensuring efficient HR processes, exceptional customer service, and compliance with organizational policies and employment regulations. The HR Coordinator supports the overall employee lifecycle while contributing to a positive and productive workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous administrative or HR experience preferred.
  • Previous human resources experience in a higher education or similarly complex, multi-stakeholder institutional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage HR department email communications and respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate and process background checks for new hires and existing employees as needed.
  • Manage Personnel Change Forms (PCFs), ensuring accurate completion, approvals, and processing.
  • Perform HR data entry including colleague information, employment records, and other personnel-related data within HR systems.
  • Maintain and organize personnel files while ensuring compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with onboarding and employee documentation processes.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives by planning and coordinating events, activities, recognition programs, and team-building opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
  • Assist with special HR projects and other duties assigned
