HR Business Partner, GTM

FireworksSan Mateo, CA
$180,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Fireworks is seeking a seasoned HR Business Partner to serve as a strategic advisor to its Go-To-Market (GTM) organization, which includes Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations. This role requires a deep understanding of the business and the ability to translate business challenges into people-centric solutions. The ideal candidate will anticipate future needs, speak the language of the business, and provide practical, data-driven support to GTM leaders and managers. The focus is on solving complex problems without relying on standard HR templates, with an emphasis on proactive risk identification, coaching, and driving impactful employee experience initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, with significant time as an HRBP or People Partner supporting Sales, Marketing, or Customer Success organizations.
  • Genuine fluency in GTM operations and the ability to communicate directly with leaders in their language, not solely through HR terminology.
  • Experience partnering with all levels of management, from VP+ leaders to frontline and first-time managers.
  • Strong, demonstrated judgment in employee relations, including knowing when to coach, act, or escalate.
  • Highly analytical, first-principles mindset; comfortable using data to diagnose root causes and building simple, scalable approaches over complex processes.
  • Experience coaching managers and new leaders directly and frequently.
  • Good judgment on when to build solutions versus when to flag issues to People Operations/COE.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, balancing nuance with directness to build trust and align stakeholders quickly.
  • Familiarity with GTM-specific compensation structures (commission plans, quota attainment, SPIFFs) and their interaction with core compensation philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an embedded, trusted strategic advisor to GTM leadership, maintaining deep business context (quota structures, pipeline dynamics, ramp curves) to provide people solutions framed in business terms.
  • Proactively identify systemic risks and opportunities, and candidly challenge leaders on the best path forward, prioritizing high-leverage problems for the next 6-12 months.
  • Provide hands-on, near-daily coaching to managers and leaders, building practical resources and frameworks for rapid ramp-up and effective leadership.
  • Equip leaders to excel in hiring, setting clear expectations, delivering direct feedback, and navigating organizational changes (reorganizations, role changes, team splits) with clarity and care.
  • Build and drive an effective new hire landing and onboarding experience tailored to GTM roles to ensure quick ramp-up.
  • Launch and own a performance management approach specifically suited for quota-carrying, customer-facing teams.
  • Drive employee experience initiatives (in-office events, offsites, etc.) chosen for real impact.
  • Partner with Recruiting to maintain the talent bar by calibrating role scope, leveling, and defining 'great' for GTM roles.
  • Utilize headcount, performance, attrition, and engagement data to identify areas where the talent bar may be slipping or talent density needs attention, proactively identifying top talent and flight risks to inform retention conversations.
  • Manage employee relations within the GTM organization with sound judgment, recommending pragmatic resolutions, and knowing when to coach, act, or escalate, while championing a strong GTM-specific culture that reinforces company-wide values.
